Week 9 - Shobha Raguraman “effeminate”

Effeminate (adjective) [of a man] having it showing characteristics regarded as typical of a woman; unmanly “ not even the effeminate swank of his riding clothes could hide the enormous power of that body- he seemed to fill those glistening boots until he strained the top lacing and you could see a great pack of muscle shifting when his shoulder removed under his thin coat” (The Great Gatsby).

I chose this word because it helped in my understanding of the book, and I thought the concept of masculinity, and what it was supposed to be, behind it was interesting.
