Week 8 - Isabel Doherty “Thwart”
Thwart: (verb) to prevent (someone) from accomplishing something “Yearning as always for the bench, he was persuaded by his wife to run for president in 1908, and his victory fulfilled his ambition while thwarting his own” - From history text “Reassessing William Howard Taft”
I chose this word because the sound and placement of letters is very unique, and caught my eye in the text. Thinking of the word “thwart”, the idea of a “wart” comes in mind, but this word has a very different meaning and part of speech in reality.
