Week 3 - Peter Crosby "Chromatic"
Chromatic
(adj.) (in music) relating to or using notes not belonging to the diatonic scale of the key in which a passage is written.
"The chromatic scale or twelve-tone scale is a musical scale with twelve pitches, each a semitone above or below its adjacent pitches. As a result, in 12-tone equal temperament, the chromatic scale covers all 12 of the available pitches. Thus, there is only one chromatic scale." From music lesson article
This is an interesting concept that can be very useful in musical soloing (especially Jazz) that I first learned about playing piano 9 years ago. I've recently revisited this as I've tried to apply it to guitar scales.
